As the only environment museum in North America, the Biosphere's mission is to raise citizen awareness, action, and engagement in environmental issues. It is located on St. Helen's Island in the building of the United States pavilion for the 1967 World Exhibition Expo 67. Architects have never enjoyed a position of such supreme prominence as they did in the worldview of Buckminster “Bucky” Fuller.
